The Guild of Independent Currencies is organising a two day conference in April called ‘Tools for a Fairer Economy’. The Guild of Independent Currencies was set up by the Bristol Pound in order to help other groups launch a local currency and to support them through shared knowledge and technology, best practice and with anything else they may need.
The Birmingham Pound team will of course be attending, as it is a really exciting opportunity for us to learn more about how money works and about different currency models. There will also be workshops on how to set up a local currency, how to keep it viable and what impact a local currency has. You can have a look at the programme here.
Keynote speakers are: Professor Nigel Dodd, LSE, Social Life of Money, Dr Peter North, University of Liverpool, Local Money, Henk van Arkel, CEO Social Trade Organisation and Professor Jem Bendell, Professor of Sustainability Leadership and Founder of the Institute for Leadership and Sustainability (IFLAS).
We hope to meet lots of like-minded people and gain insight and knowledge to help us on the way towards a Birmingham Pound. We will keep you informed of all we learned!
